There is always work but There is always God

Ever feel like you worked for something so hard, and had it taken away or maybe worked so hard for something and never saw fruit from all your work? How do you deal with those times?

Here is what we fail to realize there are times when we work and toil and don’t see the fruit of our labor. In fact sometimes it is stolen and taken right out from under us. There are other times when we may actually complain that we shouldn’t be working and want it all given to us. Isaiah writes about an experience like that.

Isaiah 63
8
The Lord has sworn by his right handand by his mighty arm: ;
“Never again will I give your grain ;
as food for your enemies, ;
and never again will foreigners drink the new wine ;
for which you have toiled

The Israelites had experienced a time where nations would come in and take all they had worked for. They would watch as everything would be taken from them. How defeated they must have felt. We can learn from their experience. You see, their story provides us a promise:

9 but those who harvest it will eat it and praise the Lord,and those who gather the grapes will drink it ;in the courts of my sanctuary.” ;10 Pass through, pass through the gates!Prepare the way for the people. ;Build up, build up the highway! ;Remove the stones. ;Raise a banner for the nations.

Yes there will be times when what we have worked for may be stolen from us, but stay strong because God promises a time when what we do work for will be ours to keep. Notice, it’s not just handed to us. “those who harvest it will eat it and praise…” It is still going to require work and persistence, to “pass through the gates…” even as God is preparing the way. There are still highways to build up and stones to move and a banner that we have to raise to celebrate God.  Don’t give up on God when you don’t have what you feel you’ve earned. Hang on God’s promise to Isaiah. There is always work, but there is always God. Claim God’s promise that there will come a season when you can keep the blessings of your work.
